虚無僧は、野外で尺八を吹いて施しを受けていた無宿の乞食僧や戦国時代の敗残兵等を源流とし、江戸時代に解脱を目指す禅の修行として本曲（ほんきょく）と呼ばれる尺八の独唱曲を吹いていました。
2026年4月7日（火）の19時から、虚無僧 流水×高幡ユニットがマシンライブイベント『寂不異音(せきふいおん)』に出演します。『寂不異音』は、モジュラーシンセやグルーヴボックスを中心とした電子系インプロヴィゼーション（即興）イベントで、今回は、虚無僧尺八とモジュラーシンセ等のコラボによって、此処より他の世界を、現世の向こうの彼岸を立ち表します。是非、お越しください。

Komuso originated from homeless beggar monks who played the shakuhachi outdoors to receive alms, and from soldiers defeated in brutal battles during the Sengoku period. During the Edo period, they performed shakuhachi solo pieces called honkyoku as a form of Zen training aimed at attaining enlightenment.
Komuso Ryusui x Takahata unit will be performing at the machine live event “Sekifuion” on April 7, 2026. “Sekifuion” is an electronic improvisation event centered around modular synths and grooveboxes. This time, through a collaboration of shakuhachi honkyoku and groovebox sounds, The unit will evoke another world beyond this world, a world beyond the other side. Please come along.
