去る10月31日、警官と装甲車に占拠された渋谷の自由の終焉を弔いに、「手向（たむけ）」を吹いてきました。「手向」は、文字どおり死者に手向ける追悼曲として吹かれたと云われる古典本曲です。渋谷の中心街を行きかう人々の中で尺八を吹きながら、虚無僧尺八は路上で吹くべきものだという思いを一層強くしました。
On October 31st, I blew the “Tamuke” to commemorate the end of freedom in Shibuya, which was occupied by police and armored vehicles. “Temuka” is a classical piece of shakuhachi that is said to have been blown as a piece for the dead. Playing the shakuhachi among the people passing by in the center of Shibuya reinforced my belief that the Komuso Shakuhachi is something that should be blown on the streets.
