「本手之調（ほんてのしらべ）」は、「本曲（ほんきょく）」と呼ばれる虚無僧が吹いていた尺八の独奏曲のエッセンスを総て内包する基本の曲とされ、遠州浜松、現在の静岡県のJR浜松駅近くにあった霊鐸山普大寺という虚無僧寺に伝わった曲と云われています。
“Hontenoshirabe” is said to be a basic piece that contains all the essence of the shakuhachi solo pieces played by komuso, called “honkyoku,” and is said to have been passed down to the komuso temple called Reitakuzan Fudaiji, which was located near Hamamatsu Station in Enshu Hamamatsu, now Shizuoka Prefecture.
